Beware the gluten-free hype

New research has found that gluten-free diets are often lacking in essential vitamins and minerals.

Gluten-free diets have morphed from a necessity for coeliac disease sufferers into a hip nutrition trend, which isn’t necessarily a healthy one according to recent research.

The University 
of Florida has found that gluten-free diets are often lacking in essential vitamins and minerals.

So make sure if you eliminate gluten you replace important nutrients such as iron, magnesium and folate (these often go hand in hand with products containing gluten) and be aware that many gluten-free products can contain refined and processed carbohydrates.
