Herbal medicine offers many benefits, few side effects and is often safe to use long term compared to potentially harmful pharmaceutical products.

Delve into herbal medicine to help reduce problematic mechanics, in particular traditional chinese medicine (TCM).

Fresh ginger is used very commonly throughout TCM, where it’s known as sheng jiang. It’s been shown to provide great relief to abdominal pain, acid reflux, stomach ache and vomiting. Adding it to your daily diet is fantastic, however, sometimes it seems almost impossible to eat just enough to make up the therapeutic dose.

White (Bighead) atractylodes, known in TCM as bai zhu, is used to treat indigestion, flatulence, constipation and diarrhoea.

Fu ling, otherwise known as hoelen, poria, china root, help with peptic ulcers, infections in general and soothes the nervous system to alleviate stress and pacify the spirit.

Ginseng is common in Australia to treat the nervous system and in cases where chronic stress is present. Known in TCM as ren shen, it has also been shown to tone a weak digestive system.

Pinellia, known in TCM as zhi ban xia, relieves nausea and vomiting. It’s warming to the system and can be prescribed in cases where the patient often feels the cold.

Our common liquorice root is also used in Australia to help support the nervous system via the adrenal glands. Known in TCM as gan cao, it’s what we refer to as a ‘synergistic’ herb, due to its ability to harmonise other herbs. By having this action, it in turn helps the other herbs to enhance their actions and work together as one.

Tangerine peel, known in TCM as chen pi, relieves flatulence, belching, nausea, vomiting, and improves digestion.

Costus root, known in TCM as mu xiang, relieves flatulence and pain, as well as improving movements of the digestive tract.

Bastard cardamon, known in TCM as sha ren, relieves bloating, stomachache, nausea and vomiting.
