Running 'greatly reduces risk of heart disease'

Runners have a 45% lower risk of death from heart disease or stroke.

The Journal of the American College of Cardiology has just released research showing that running for only a few minutes a day or at slow speeds greatly reduces the risk of death from cardiovascular disease.

The study followed more than 55,000 adults between the ages of 18 and 100, over a 15-year period, and showed that runners had a 45% lower risk of death from heart disease or stroke.
