3 ways to beat bad breath

Simple changes to your diet

Your diet has a lot to do with your breath.

If your liver is overwhelmed with processed foods, alcohol, etc., the toxins can travel back into the blood and to the lungs where they are exhaled as bad breath. Yuck.

Here are some tips for fresh breath:

1. Stock up on vitamin C

The vitamin C in citrus can produce an inhospitable environment for odour-causing bacteria and can help prevent gum disease.

2. Increase saliva

Eating raw, crunchy foods such as celery and apples increases saliva and helps clean in between the teeth.

3. Nibble on herbs

Nibbling on fresh herbs such as mint or parsley can deodorise the breath.

NB: Beware extreme diets, with the nasty internal effects of deprivation being exhaled through the mouth.
